I’m Will Pickeral, a software development consultant specializing in cloud-native .NET on Azure. I earned an MBA from The Ohio State University before moving into software engineering, which is why I ask what the business needs to do before I ask anything about the code.
The work I care about sits between software that runs when you demonstrate it and software that holds up with real people on it. Building it is the half most teams are staffed for. The infrastructure it runs on, the pipeline that ships it, and the person who answers when it breaks are usually nobody’s job until they urgently are.
I would rather understand your business well enough to tell you when an idea is wrong than build it and hope. I work directly with you, explain things in plain language, and make sure you understand what was built and why.
The most useful thing I do is usually not the code. It is working out what is worth building, what is safe to put in front of customers, and what will still work when your business depends on it. A project has gone well when it solves your problem, not when the code runs the way I expected.
